Choosing The Right Camera

Finding the right digital camera can be a very daunting prospect.

This is so important with today’s models as they are packed full of features that will enhance the whole imaging experience.

The most useful feature on any compact camera is “ intelligent auto”. This is a shoot anything and anyone  mode that makes photography so easy allowing you to take anything from stunning portraits to the most intricate of close ups like flowers and other detailed objects.

You may need a camera that has more zoom for nature or sport. At Whitby's , we have an excellent choice of larger zoom cameras both compact and bridge. Compacts have a zoom range from 3x up to 16x magnification, whereas a bridge camera can range from 15 to a staggering 35x optical zoom. It's important to note that some cameras feature a digital zoom which can be misleading as the more digital zoom you use the lower the image resolution becomes ,unlike optical zoom which does not affect image size at all , retaining image quality throughout the whole of the zoom range.

One of the most important advances in the last year is the addition of full high definition movie mode. This allows you to shoot high quality movies on you compact camera that until recently you could only get on expensive camcorders.

We have a Sony 46” High Definition TV in store that shows HD footage from some of our cameras and the image quality has to be seen to be believed.
